About Us:
The founding members of Umbrella Film Group and staff goal
is to create multiple feature films, commercials, animation features, music
videos, and live events. Qualities in all we do, truth in word and character,
and trust among us are things practiced among the Umbrella Films team members.
Though all this may sound stuffy, we’re a fun bunch of creative types who would
be dangerous in one location. We’re friends who have a common goal to create
wonderment and beauty in our storytelling approach. We came together because we
believe in the remarkable storytelling approach of “let’s try it and see how it
looks!” Art and creativity are the forefront of our endeavors.
We are primarily located in Los Angeles with staff members
in locations across the United States and a few in other nations. If you have
an interest in Interning, volunteering, or to work with us, send us a note
through our contact page. You could be another valuable staff member to bring
reality in the world of dreams.
Umbrella Film Group is a grassroots group of incredible and
loyal staff. “Umbrella” is a registered trademark of the US.
Our Goals:
We are seeking established sponsors for our film, which will
be exposed, entered into film festivals, distributions of this film will with
the Wal-Mart and Target stores. We will be expanding on this film location with
a B-List Music artist and creating a music video. There will also be a sound
track for the feature.
COMMUNITY OVERLOAD:
Community Overload introduces a trio of pot smoking high
school hopefuls: Chris, Manny, and Jason, who decide to put together the
biggest party of the year, establishing them as instant legends throughout
their school. The plan is to combine the hype of a championship fight and the
setting of a block party, by broadcasting the fight on a screen in the middle
of the street in front of Chris’ house, surrounded by a smorgasbord of wild
activities; low and behold, this trio has no clue how to put something like
that together.
During
this challenge, the protagonist and leader of the trio, Chris, faces a handful
of obstacles in and out of school. The love of Chris’ life, Portia, innocently
commands his attention to the dismay of her maniac boyfriend, Adam. Adam takes
it upon himself to make Chris’ life a living hell.
Good
news comes around when, after some coaxing, the boys manage to convince Max, a
party planner, to promote and plan their party. Unfortunately he will only do
it for a modest fee of five thousand dollars. After an unsuccessful attempt to
borrow the money from Chris’ brother, Jason decides to steal it from a
dangerous drug dealer named Orvail.
Once
they pay Max and Chris’ parents have left town. The boys go about telling
neighbors about the block party. Some of the neighbors are thrilled at the
idea, others like Dan: a cop whose recent demotion has left him bitter and
lonely, prove to be an ominous element to the neighborhood. Dan demands a
permit for the party.
The
boys ignore Dan’s threats and continue preparing for the party. Meanwhile,
Orvail comes to the realization that Jason has stolen from him and means to get
even.
Once
the day of the party has arrived, Jason sets out to distract Dan from the block
so that the party can go as scheduled. Chris and Manny arrive on the block,
greeted by a swarm of students. Max has put together a party far beyond Chris’
expectations. The boys are treated like kings. Jason shows up, but he, Chris
and Manny get separated when Manny runs off with the ladies. Portia shows up
and spends time with Chris. They enjoy the party together until Adam shows up
and attacks Chris. Portia defends him, ultimately showing her feelings for
Chris and her severing of ties with Adam. Chris is thrilled with Portia’s
affection towards him, a celebration quickly ended by Orvail.
Soon
after, nosey neighbor reports the party to the Vigilante Squad, a group of
overzealous neighborhood watch members. The party is shut down and everyone leaves.
Chris, Manny, and Jason reunite at the end of the night to revel in their
success.
